When you find sign “1” then it means it is a meadow. Most of such meadows were once sites of human settlement. |

2 |
Sign “2” is used for boundary pillar. Several hundreds of such pillars indicate the boundary of Kanha Tiger Reserve. From one such pillars next one is visible. It is a good indication for graziers to keep their cattle out. |

3 |
This sign is for patrolling camp. Such patrolling camps are manned by a team of forest guard and one or two helpers. About 160 such patrolling camps are present in Kanha at present. On vehicle break down or any incident with safari vehicle, these guards will come first for your rescue. |

Sign “4” is for checkppost. A checkpost is a manned barrier at every entrance and exit point of National Park. About 22 checkpoints are present in Kanha National Park. Every passing through vehicle is checked by gurads at such checkpoints against poaching, illicit tree cutting etc. Entry of each entering/exiting vehicle is registered here. |

Sign “5” indicates presence of Termite Hills. During parks safari we often come across such termite hill of height ranging from 1meter to 3meters. |

6 |
This sign is for Animal Track developed due to regular use of same path in search of food, water and shelter. It is not developed by human interference. Deers often follows such familiar animal tracks and they remember such tracks by smell and sight. Foot marks & droppings on any such animal track reveal the identity of its regular user. |

7 |
Sign of “7” is for migration corridor. This corridor is 30 mtr. Wide and 10 km. long. It connects Kanha and Bishanpura to enable barasingha to move from Kanha to Bishanpura, on their own. This corridor was created by clearing the undergrowth and make it look like a passage. Dried mahua (Indian butter tree) flowers and salt licks were put along the way to attract herbivores. As a result, it was found that barasingha moved through this corridor and accepted Bishanpura as their permanent home. |

Sign of “8” is for fireline. Fire is the major threat for dense forests like Kanha specially in summer. Fireline is a preventive step to avoid any such unprecedented incident from occurrence in National Park. Width of a fireline varies from 3 to 32 meters. It divides the Tiger Reserve into smaller blocks. Fireline of Kanha National Park is about 1900km. The 965km long roads are also act as fireline. |

Water source in Kanha is indicated with sign of “9”. Water is a natural resource essential for existence of all life. Small nalas, springs are natural sources of water and dams, tanks are man-made sources of water. Persence of such water sources prevents migration and over-crowding in an area. |

This sign is allotted for Lapsi Kabar. Lapsi was a local tribal man with expertise in hunting and guiding. Kabar means grave. In year 1930, lapsi was accompanying some game sportsment in forest of Kanha and had close encounter with Tiger. He fought bravely with Tiger but paid with his life. A gravestone was installed here in memory of his courage and bravery. |

Sign “11” is entitled for enclosure. An “Enclosure” is a fenced area in National Park, created to provide special care and attention to highly endangered species. In Kanha, such enclosure is made for barasingha’s. |

Swamps and Wallows of Kanha are indicated by this symbol. These swamps are favorite place to haunt for Barasingha/Swamp Deers. Here they eat aquatic plants. Wild boars can also be seen in these swamps as they coat their skin with mud to protect themselves from insects. |

Claw marks are indicated through this sign. Claw marks are generally left on tree trunks by tigers in order to clean & sharpen their claws. From these claw marks one can conclude about the height & strength of tiger who had marked. It is also a warning signal for rival tigers. |

Research Plot is indicated by sign "14". It is for area under special monitoring. It is usually done to study special relationship between certain plants & animal/s. Required data are collected from these sites and analyzed to reach some conclusion. |

Shravan Taal is indicated by sign of "15". As per legend, this is the place where dutiful son stopped to feed drinking water to his blind parents during their pilgrimage tour. In the same place he was shot down by arrow released by King Dashratha (father of lord Rama) of Ayodhya. |

Shravan Chita is indicated by this sign. As per legend, this is the place where dutiful son Shravan was cremated after being killed by the arrow of King Dashratha (father of lord Rama) of Ayodhya. |

It is for Dashratha Machan which is in ridge opposite to Shravan Tal. As per legend, it is from this Machaan, King Dashratha release the arrow towards Shravan by mistake in expectation of some animal to kill. |
