Kipling's Country Tour


Tour Itinerary: Delhi (1N) – Jabalpur - Kanha (3N) – Pench(3N) –  Nagpur - Delhi (1N)

Tour Theme: This Tour Package covers actual locations & landscapes that inspired Rudyard Kipling to write "The Jungle Book". Pench forest was real playground of Jungle Book's character Mogli (Jungle boy). We can correlate Jungle Book with Kanha & Pench forest.


Day 01: Arrival- Delhi
On arrival at Airport, you will meet our representative and transfer directly to the booked hotel in Delhi. All travel related documents like tickets, hotel booking vouchers etc will be handover to you along with short briefing of tour program. Rest of the day we will explore Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) which includes World Heritage Red fort, Rajghat (cremation ground of Mahatma Gandhi), Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk visit.

Day 02: Delhi – (By Flight) – Jabalpur - Kanha (165kms/04:00hrs)
On early morning we will drive to Delhi Airport to board flight for Jabalpur Airport (IATA Code; JLR) for Kanha National Park. Kanha Park is in South direction of Delhi city at a approximate distance of 1075 kms. On reaching Jabalpur Airport, drive to South-East direction for Kanha National Park. Kanha forest has mainly sal, bamboo & teak tree in majority. As sal tree are found in majority, Kanha forest remain evergreen throughout the year. On route we will see first Indian Birds typically Laughing and Spotted Doves, Black Drangos, Black Kites, Little Swifts etc. Jabalpur city is at a distance of 16kms from Jabalpur Airport. On the way to Jabalpur city we will pass through a small nature reserve called Dumna Nature Reserve. We can have breakfast at Jacksons Hotel Jabalpur or may continue our drive towards Kanha. On the way we will pass through teak forest hilly area parallel to Narmada river. After traveling about 100kms we can have 20mins halt in Tourism Department Hotel close to Mandla town. Here we can have tea/coffee and freshen up for further journey. We will cross the Narmada river and pass through tribal villages of the region. Village houses, cattle herds, farmers working in fields are most common scenes on the way. On arrival at Kanha, we will settle into our resort for next 3-night stay. Rest of the day will be at leisure at wildlife resort. Commonly seen birds in resort campus are: Black Drangos, variety of Mynas, Bulbuls, Jungle Babblers, Pond herons, Shikra, White-eyed Buzzard, Indian Roller etc.

Day 03: Kanha National Park
Take morning & evening game drives of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Kanha National Park is famous for its rare Hard Ground Swamp Deer conservation. Hard-ground Swamp Deer race in Kanha is their only existing population in World. Kanha National Park was established in 1955 with an aim for protection of these Swamp Deer at their last natural habitat. Kanha Park was spread over 940 sq. kms of core zone. It was the second National Park after making of Corbett National Park. It was among 9 National Parks first included in Project Tiger India as was declared Kanha Tiger Reserve in 1973.

Day 04:  Kanha National Park
Take morning & evening game drives of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Large sprawling meadows of Kanha Tiger Reserve are best suited tiger sighting. Other commonly seen mammals in Kanha park are: Sambar, Indian Gaur (Huge Asiatic Bison), Spotted Deer, Dhole (Indian Wild Dog) Rhesus Macaques, Wild Boar. About more than 200 species of birds are likely to be seen during Kanha Park Safari. Some of the highlighting birds of Kanha Forest are Created Serpent Eagle, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Black-headed Oriole, Large Green Barbet (Megalaima zeylancia), Black-shouldered Kite, Bronzewinged Jacana, Redwattled Lapwing (Vanellus indicus), Common Hawk-Cuckoo or Brainfever Bird (Cuculus varius)Shikras, Red-rumped Swallows, etc.

Day 05:  Kanha – Pench National Park (200kms/04:30hrs)
Take morning game drive as last one in Kanha forest. After having lunch, we will drive to Pench National Park by road. Forests of Kanha & Pench are linked with each other as both are spread over Satpura range. Even in past Tiger of Kanha was seen in Pench forest. While moving from Kanha park to Pench Tiger Reserve we will pass through tribal villages, agricultural lands and some rocky regions also. Major city on the way will be Seoni, situated on Nagpur-Jabalpur road, Highway No.7. Rudyard Kipling’s prominent character Mogli (Jungle boy) was derived from a incident of Seoni Forest in mid of 19th century. During that time, under police investigation under British Police Officer Mr. John Moore, a herd of Wolves were discovered whose one of the member was a Jungle boy who behaves like a wild wolf. It was the time before Jungle Book was written. Pench national Park was spread over the area under Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra State divided by Pench river that flows through this wildlife sanctuary. On reaching Turia entrance gate of Pench Tiger Reserve, we will move to our desired resort.

Day 06: Pench National Park
Take morning & evening game drives of Pench Tiger Reserve. On Pench Park Safari we will the notice the regions quite similar to the areas described in Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. Pench river is the main water source for Pench forest. Pench forest shelters highest density of herbivores animals in India. Mammals prominently found in Pench Tiger Reserve are: Leopard, Asiatic Jackal, Blue-bull, Sambhar, Indian Gaur, Barking Deer, Dhole are prominent ones.

Day 07: Pench National Park
Take morning & evening game drives of Pench Tiger Reserve. Bird watching in Pench forest is also appreciative. Here we can find birds like: Indian Roller, Yellow-wattled Lapwings, Ashy-crowned Sparrow-Larks, Indian Grey Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Brown-headed Barbets, Coppersmith Barbets, Jungle Babbler etc.

Day 08: Pench - Nagpur
Take morning game drive as last one in Pench forest. After having lunch, we will drive to Nagpur Airport to board flight for Delhi. On reaching Delhi transfer to hotel.

Day 09: Delhi - Departure

Dedicate the day for full day sightseeing of Delhi. Delhi sightseeing offers visit to UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb. We will also visit other attractions like India Gate, Akshar Dham Temple, Lotus Temple etc. Later in the evening drive to Delhi Airport to board flight for home or next destination.
